the shanty

I will tell you here first as I tell you everything here first.

I am traveling to Minnesota in a few weeks to spend a week with my grandmother and record her story of the years she spent in California during WW2. While my grandfather was overseas, as were most men, she and three other women rented a beach cottage here in southern California which the dubbed “the shanty.” I am not entirely sure when I will write this book but as my grandmothers health continues to waver I see the only time is now to capture this story.
